Abstract: This chapter provides a summary of the recruitment and classification of study participants and describes participation rates for the Interview and Examination. The potential for biased population estimates due to variation in participation rates is explored and the weighting procedure implemented to ensure the sample is representative of the target population is described. This chapter finishes with a description of population estimates derived from the weighted sample for key socioeconomic and oral health characteristics of the target population.
