Data on the timing of reproduction in Southern Hairy-nosed wombats between 1969 and 1978 at Brookfield Conservation Park in South Australia were collected and analysed. There was a defined breeding season between July and December. Most births occurred in October although in a year when there was little rain, reproductive activity in both males and females was decreased. The cause of the decrease in reproduction in the dry year is unknown but was not associated with a marked decline in body weight.-
