A micromechanical model based on the mean-field approach was developed to investigate the effect of the mismatch in material properties of the constituents on the transformation tonghening in zirconia enriched multiphase composites. Important results have been obtained for SiC/Al composites, which have a large potential for application in lightweight automotive structures.-
