Abstract: | While the traditional interest in structure functions has been the confirmation of the predictions of perturbative QCD, this data also contains a wealth of information on how QCD works in the infrared, or confinement, region. As the challenge of the strong force now turns to the study of QCD in the non-perturbative region, such information is extremely valuable. We outline some of the key issues for both nucleon and nuclear structure functions. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. |
