This paper examines the realities and visions of the Philippine communitybased forest management (CBFM) through the prism of input-output analysis. For comparison purposes, input-output analysis results for India are also presented. The paper argues that solid demand for tree growing and harvesting from other industries needs to be established in order for the Philippines to materialise the notion that CBFM can be a vehicle for reforestation and poverty alleviation in the country.-
