Abstract: Cities are becoming denser, resulting in more hard surfaces with less green space, landscape and permeable surfaces. One way of creating more natural environment within the city,as well as accommodating the other competing pressures for the public realm and the spaces between buildings,is to use the roofs and walls of the built form as part of the natural environment.Fifth Creek Studio has a focus on developing a sustainable urban environment using natural systems, including the integration of green roofs and living walls-living architecture. This focus is informed by evidence based research and applying this research data into landscape strategies for micro climate modification in the urban environment.
